Creating a space for adolescent girls of minority cultures to process life stressors, while also navigating their self identity.
BIPOC Adolescent Group Therapy in Brentwood, TN
Being a teenager in today’s world is tough.
You have to figure out who you are and what you care about and where you fit, on top of everything else, like school and sports and jobs and family and friends. It’s a lot!
But what if your skin doesn’t match most of your classmates’ skin? Life as a BIPOC teen can feel like you’re immersed in two worlds at the same time.
Where do YOU fit in? You fit right here.
This virtual support group for BIPOC adolescents is a space to come together, to support each other, and to process life with people who really understand.
When joining this group, you can expect to find a supportive environment where you can confide in others about your struggles, challenges, and hard times.
You can expect to participate in open and honest discussions, participate in therapeutic activities, and build healthy and safe bonds with others that relate to your experience in life.
Group starts the week of March 20th
BIPOC Adolescent Group Therapy
is for teens who:
- Struggle to know where they fit in, especially while navigating both their family's culture as well as American culture.
- Desire to explore their self identity and find authentic connection to themselves.
- Need community amongst peers who personally identify with these unique struggles.
- Need support in learning healthy coping skills for life stressors, in an environment that feels safe.
- Struggle with anxiety, depression and/or low self-esteem.
Christina Cummings Intern group Therapy Leader
I’m Christina. I attend Trevecca Nazarene University and am pursuing my master’s in clinical mental health counseling. I am an Intern Level Therapist who has so much passion in working with minority groups and youth.
Being an African American woman, I know how it feels to be immersed in a world where you feel you don’t fit. It is hard to manage living in two different worlds; the world in your home and the one that you walk into when you leave your front door.
You might feel a sense of insecurity, discomfort, or uncertainty of yourself and/or the world. My goal is for all of us to come together in a safe environment and figure out how to navigate together!
I am so thankful to offer my support for this group and hope this begins a beautiful journey of self discovery, balance and happiness.
