I’m Amanda-Jo Serrano
I help teens and women who feel lost in who they are, discover what it is like to feel confident and not defined by their circumstances.
I am a Graduate Counseling Intern at Replenish Her.
If there were one thing, I could tell the younger version of myself, it would be to be yourself, and don't let anyone else be the author of your story.
Through my years working as a Middle School Counselor, I have found that more often than not, teens are just needing a space to hear their own voice and begin to feel confident inside their own thoughts and feelings. It is my goal to help provide that space, as well as challenge them to learn new and better ways to navigate their more difficult emotions and relational experiences. It is my mission to help teens find their purpose, develop their identity, and increase their self-confidence and self-worth.
I do my best work helping teens…
I am currently working on my Master's Degree to obtain my Licensed Professional Counseling Degree at Trevecca Nazarene University. I have my Master's in School Counseling and have been practicing as a School Counselor in schools for 5 years. As a School Counselor, I use solution-focused therapy to meet the needs of students throughout the school day. I have experience with adolescents and teens in individual and group counseling, focusing on self-esteem, anxiety, social pressures, and day-to-day barriers within teens.
I am being supervised by Christine Finnegan, LPC-MHSP, the owner of Replenish Her Counseling. I love to use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help my clients work through distressing thoughts and feelings and learn to no longer feel stuck inside of these thoughts and feelings.
When I am not working with clients ...
I am spending time outdoors with my dog (Annie), taking a peloton class or traveling.. I love finding ways to stay busy and am always up to try something new.
