I’m Amanda-Jo Serrano

I help teens and women who feel lost in who they are, discover what it is like to feel confident and not defined by their circumstances.

I am a Masters Level Counselor at Replenish Her.

If there were one thing, I could tell the younger version of myself, it would be to be yourself, and don't let anyone else be the author of your story.

Through my years working as a Middle School Counselor, I have found that more often than not, teens are just needing a space to hear their own voice and begin to feel confident inside their own thoughts and feelings. It is my goal to help provide that space, as well as challenge them to learn new and better ways to navigate their more difficult emotions and relational experiences. It is my mission to help teens find their purpose, develop their identity, and increase their self-confidence and self-worth.

I also have a passion working with women who feel stuck in the same patterns, struggle with self worth and have a hard time setting boundaries. I help adults work through the lense of the whole perspective and help them discover who they are meant to be with tools to overcome the barriers that are holding them back. I walk alongside women letting them know that they are not alone and that they have a safe place to come to in times of distress and hopelessness. I like to remind and empower women that this is your journey and together we can rewrite your story and I am just here to help you along the way.

I do my best work helping teens…

Feel confident in who they are and how to find happiness day to day even when things are hard.

Learn healthy coping strategies that they actually want to use and find meaningful.

Discover how to not feel guilty about setting healthy boundaries with friends and family.

Feel like they have a voice and not feel defined by their circumstances.

Increase their sense of inner strength and resiliency.

Not sweat the small losses and instead focus on the wins.

I am a post-masters graduate, currently working on fulfilling requirements to obtain my Licensed Professional Counseling degree. I have my Master's in School Counseling and have been practicing as a School Counselor in schools for 5 years. As a School Counselor, I most commonly used solution-focused therapy to meet the needs of students throughout the school day. I have experience with adolescents and teens in individual and group counseling, focusing on self-esteem, anxiety, social pressures, and day-to-day barriers within teens. I have experience working with  helping parents and students work on healthy communication styles to better support the student.

As well as having experience in a school I spent I did my Internship placement with Replenish Her Counseling working with teens, adolescents and young women.. Throughout my experience with Replenish Her I have been finding my love to use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help my clients work through distressing thoughts and feelings and learn to no longer feel stuck inside of these thoughts and feelings. During my sessions I often use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients Reduce depression, sadness, and anxiety. I also am in the process of getting trained in EMDR, and will offer the services once fully trained.

When I am not working with clients ...

I am spending time outdoors with my dog (Annie), taking a workout class, visiting the beach or the mountains, visiting family and trying out new restaurants.. I love finding ways to stay busy and am always up to try something new.
